Morpho MCP server for AI agents (no key)

Read Morpho lending vaults, markets and positions from an agent. Hosted MCP and GraphQL, no key or account needed.

What it does

Morpho is an onchain lending protocol. It publishes two keyless data paths: a hosted MCP server at mcp.morpho.org and a public GraphQL API at api.morpho.org/graphql. Together they let an agent list vaults, look up a market’s rates, or check a wallet’s positions in plain language. The MCP server can also build unsigned transactions, but it never signs or broadcasts anything. This page covers read-only data use only. It is not financial advice.

Verified facts

PriceFree. No account needed. [Verified 2026-10-16] source
API key / authNone for the hosted MCP server or the public GraphQL endpoint. [Verified 2026-10-16] source
Rate limitAPI: 750 requests/minute (then 429 with Retry-After: 600). Severe abuse of about 20,000 requests/hour gets 429 with Retry-After: 604800 (7 days). [Verified 2026-10-16] source
Query complexityEach GraphQL query is capped at a complexity of 1,000,000, and the score is returned in the response extensions (our test query scored 85). [Verified 2026-10-16] source
TermsGoverned by Morpho’s terms of use. MCP prepare_* tools return unsigned transactions that you must review yourself, and the server never signs or broadcasts. [Verified 2026-10-16] source

Prompt to give your agent

Use the Morpho MCP server for read-only questions only. List the five largest USDC vaults on Ethereum with their current APY and total assets, and cite the vault addresses. Do not call any morpho_prepare_* tool unless I explicitly ask, and never present the numbers as investment advice.

Agent / MCP-style tool snippet

# Claude Code
claude mcp add morpho --scope user --transport http https://mcp.morpho.org/

// Cursor: .cursor/mcp.json
{ "mcpServers": { "morpho": { "type": "http", "url": "https://mcp.morpho.org/" } } }

# Health check we ran (JSON-RPC over Streamable HTTP):
# {"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":2,"method":"tools/call","params":{"name":"morpho_health_check","arguments":{}}}

Working example (run 2026-10-16)

curl -sS -X POST https://api.morpho.org/graphql -H "content-type: application/json" \
  -d '{"query":"{ vaults(first: 1, where:{chainId_in:[1]}) { items { address name symbol asset { symbol } } } }"}'

Response (trimmed):

HTTP 200; cache-control: max-age=5, public
{"data":{"vaults":{"items":[{"address":"0xfeaC08ffA38d95ec5Ed7C46c933C8891a44C5F26",
  "name":"Spark Blue Chip USDC Vault","symbol":"sparkUSDCbc","asset":{"symbol":"USDC"}}]}},
  "extensions":{"complexity":85,"maximumComplexity":1000000}}

When not to use it

  • Do not let an agent act on prepared transactions without reading every field yourself. The payloads are unsigned and untrusted until you check them.
  • Do not poll in tight loops. Going past 750 requests/minute brings a 10-minute cooldown, and heavy abuse brings a 7-day block.
  • Do not use it as a general crypto price feed. It only covers Morpho vaults and markets.

Use cases

  • Dashboards that summarize vault and market state
  • Research notes on lending rates across chains
  • Checking a wallet’s positions in plain language
